From displeasure with the Volcker Rule to an alternative to foreclosure, here are a few highlights from this week in financial law:
- Something Reps and Dems can agree on? Big banks and legislators team up on the Fed.
- It’s not breaking news that it takes a long time to fix out of control inflation, but does the G7 know that? Not clear.
- “Collocation” – rapid fire exchange based trading systems under scrutiny by the SEC. Major funds and firms colluding to limit competition and manipulate markets? Ha, never.
- Can’t afford your mortgage payments? Bank foreclosing? Just give your house to the bank and rent it from them instead!
- A little fraud here, a big settlement there, but hey, business is still booming and we’re the industry leader for government debt!
